Twyford – Queen of Hampshire villages

Twyford Stores

Fabulous shop, post office, coffee, lunch, hair and beauty.

We are often asked to search for properties in and around the village of Twyford but why is it such a popular place for setting up home in Hampshire?

Location Situated on the River Itchen about 3 miles from Winchester, Twyford is a beautiful village with water meadows and parks to play in.  The water meadows offer a chance to swim and picnic on sunny days and the parks have activities galore on offer such as tennis www.hunterparktennis.co.uk, cricket www.twyfordcricketclub.co.uk and the annual carnival and ball!

Shawford station, about a mile from the centre of Twyford has trains to London Waterloo running about twice an hour at peak time and taking just 1hr 15mins.

The M3 is easily accessed from the village allowing quick travel to London/Winchester and Southampton.

CommunityThere is no doubt in my mind that Twyford has a very strong sense of community.  Friends who live here are very proud of their village, look at the Facebook page for Twyford and you can find information about what’s on www.facebook.com/pages/Together-we-are-Twyford/190025701012713

The schools Twyford is lucky to have two great schools in the village, St Marys Primary School www.twyford-pri.hants.sch.uk a primary school for boys and girls from 4-11 and Twyford Prep school www.twyfordschool.com an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls from 3-13.  The village is also in the catchment area for several of the great secondary schools in Winchester

Shops, Pubs and Beauty – Twyford is thriving, with the fabulous Twyford Stores http://www.twyford-stores.co.uk at the centre of the village offering fresh produce, a post office, The Bean Below coffee shop and restaurant for delicious lunches and Ian James Hair and Beauty above the shop for all your pampering needs.

There are two pubs in the village, The Bugle Inn www.bugleinntwyford.co.uk and The Phoenix www.thephoenixinn.co.uk both offering food and entertainment and both a popular locally and with visitors.

The Twyford Social Club www.twyfordsocialclub.co.uk is another place to check out with bar and snack plus a skittle alley and snooker table.

A must do in Twyford is a visit to the historic Waterworks www.twyfordwaterworks.co.uk where regular open days allow visitors the opportunity to see behind the scenes at this Edwardian Water Pumping Station.

With all this right on your doorstep its no wonder we are often asked to focus our search round this village.  With properties ranging from Victorian terraced houses to large detached mansions, it really is a special place offering the best of country life.
